The attached article (in Dutch) provides an analysis of the population and politics in Curacao. It is set in the inherent nature of people, since tribal times to seek, connect and belong with others, out of which a leadership structure developed and evolved. It continues to outline the current worldwide relationship between the majority (masses) and politics. Then it leads into a elaboration of democracy, politics, and the community union and stability in Curacao since at least the 1800s. Then it relates these developments to the those in the region and other parts of the world. The document further concludes by presenting a challenge caused by the recent developments of populism, coupled with political opportunism.
